Arizona Governor Brewer asks Is Obama Commander-in-Chief or the Comic-in-Chief

Governor Jan Brewer (R-Ariz.) addresses Obama's joke at the recent White House Correspondents' Dinner where Obama took aim at Arizona's immigration law:

Obama joked: "We all know what happens in Arizona when you don't have ID -- adios, amigos."

Governor Brewer targeted Obama's joke. "It's fair to ask whether he intends to be the Commander-in-Chief or the Comic-in-Chief."

"While the president is making wisecracks and playing racial politics, some groups have suggested that Arizona be punished for enforcing laws that our federal government has failed to enforce -- that is misguided at best,"
Gov. Brewer said.

"Our purpose today is to help the rest of the nation understand the crisis which confronts our state," Gov. Brewer. "Our nation's government is broken, our border is being erased and the president apparently considers it a wonderful opportunity to divide people along racial lines for his personal political convenience."

Securing our borders is not a joking matter.

Governor Brewer announced A Web site aimed at "educating" the nation on the state immigration law at SecureTheBorder.org

I applaud Governor Brewer.
It is this kind of courage that is needed to fix our unsecured borders.

Obama's own Attorney General, Eric Holder , hasn't even read the Arizona law but is quick to refer to it as a bad law. Maybe Unconstitutional.
What about the same worded Federal Immigration law, Eric? or are you still looking into the definition of 'radical islam' and 'terrorist?'

It is fair to say that neither republicans nor democrats have protected our borders, or enforced federal laws, for decades. And decades.
You never hear either side having disputes over the Northern border.

Politicians handle the security of our southern border as if it is a 'racial' issue rather than an economic and security issue.

The democrats USE the southern border issue as a race card for Hispanic voting base and the republicans back off security enforcement so the divisive racial tactics won't hurt their own Hispanic voter numbers.

The borders go unsecured so the politicians can get themselves votes and or avoid labels.

SHHhhhhh, Don't Ask, Don't Expel...

Obama's amnesty talk is nothing more than trying to secure millions of new votes and expected thank you dollars to his base while labeling opposition.

Amnesty was tried before without first securing the border.

The result, after Reagan gave amnesty to millions of law breakers, is 10-11 million more illegals entering the country and ignoring our laws.

The result, of continued unsecured border, hundreds of people kidnapped.
The result, drug wars spilling over the border, thousands of people dead.
The result,US citizens terrorized and murdered, border patrol shot and killed.

National security ignored while Obama jokes and divides.

The security of our borders should not be a divisive political game.

No one is whining that Federal Immigration Law is racist, yet suddenly in an election year Arizona's law is racist?

We all have to show various forms of identification paperwork all of the time.

People need to start using common sense.

If the Federal Government won't do it's job then it is the duty of officials of each state to serve and to protect it's citizens.

Governor Brewer is not only correct in her actions to protect her state and citizens but she is mirroring the federal laws already on the books and saying to the Obama Administration that if you, and past Administrations, won't do your job to protect our borders then Arizona State will have to.

It bothers me greatly that the democrats create this carrot n stick agitation of humans as their dependent pawns. If it weren't for race and abortion platforms democrats would simply come up with some other bitterness growth to plant, nuture, and harvest to ensure the country stays divided and themselves in power.

Democrats ask, Who's gona be your motel maid, or be the dishwashers, pick yer veggies, mow your lawn? Under democrat description they warn us that no one else will do the job.
These jobs will only be done by people who cross our border? This isn't 'profiling'?

Using this present democratic argument, then, these endangered jobs must therefore be positions that only illegals will be forced from engaging in....
because certainly there is no danger that legal immigrants will lose these democratic-profiled class-specific jobs 'that no one else will do'.

Then we have republicans saying, We can't send 11 million people back to their country. It's impossible.

Improbable, but not impossible.

It is pretty simple really.
ENFORCE the LAW.
It is against the law for employers to hire illegals.

Illegals know they can get jobs here so they come here.

Now, why employers are required legaly to ask for ID but law enforcement can't ask is really strange. Are employers racist for asking for ID?

It is obvious by the reported numbers, in the millions, of 'illegals' that Employers are not asking for ID or don't care to follow the law.
So Enforce the law and FINE the employers.

When the Fines exceed the under the table labor profits and employers stop hiring illegals then the LURE to come here will trickle down.

When illegals can not find a job, like 17 million other Americans, perhaps a great deal of the 11 million will return home naturally.

As to the health care costs of illegals - BILL Mexico for it's citizens.
Perhaps they will pay more attention to their northern border if it is costing them more than ignoring or encouraging the problem.

This law tramples on the Constitutional rights of those with specific skin color.

The Arizona law mirrors the Federal law.
In fact it now goes beyond the Federal law in it's amended clarifications that no state or subdivision may consider race, color, national origin in implementing the requirements of any subsection of this law.

Are you saying that the Federal law is Unconstitutional- or only if it is enforced?

I believe that is what Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas was getting at when he asked Eric Holder:
Do you see a difference in the constitutionality of a statute and the constitutionality of the application of that statute?
HOLDER: Sure, there is a potential for challenging a law on its face and then challenging a law as it is applied.
So there are two bases for challenging a particular statute.

The federal law as it stands seems ok constitutionaly for democrats so long as it is not enforced.

Here's the deal - if you are in America legaly you shouldn't have any more trouble showing documentation than I would in a traffic stop showing my ID.
We all have to show identification for any number of reasons.
If you are asked for your Passport is the inspector a racist?

In order to get a job one fills out paperwork that includes Social Security number... is it racist to have a SS number?
If you are violating a traffic code and are pulled over - is it racist to ask for your drivers license and insurance card?
If you don't have either one of these is it racist to ticket fine or jail you?
It's a law.
We all have to follow laws. Some laws we don't like but we still deal with them- even when we may feel harrassed.
If you are a legal immigrant or working transient you are provided documentation showing that you are legaly in the country - is it racist to ask to see documentaion ONLY IF you are illegal?
Ever been asked to show your ID when writing a check?
UT-o, that dang Fish n Game guy is coming over here -
it must be because I'm in a boat fishing without my license pinned to my shirt ...
he better not ask me to see it just because I'm a fisherman fishing...damned profiling racist. I'm gona sue.

So long as it is a requirement by law to cross our border through proper immigration channels the law needs to be followed.

in the case of the FEDS the law needs to be enforced.

Beside security there are economic reasons for the number of immigrants allowed into the country each year from all over the world.

I repeat- there are sound reasons for controling the numbers of people coming into the country.

The influx of out of control illegal immigration is bankrupting many states.

my notes:
31% on welfare - 60 hospitals shut down in California - enrollment in schools up 96% to illegals- 2,500 crimes a year by illegals - costs 28.6 BILLION annually -

The cost of illegal immigration can not be sustained.

Immigration law is not a racial issue- it is a dire security, economic, and stability issue.

If our country becomes as bad as the country one has left what 'hope' does one have then?

I don't use facebook so I haven't a friends list; it's a full time endeavor researching, reading and writting here :) There is a "followers" friends list over to the left that you could add yourself to if you'd like to and I did sign up for this twitter thing? a couple weeks back. (twitter/greybeard411)
I am glad I explained (somewhere in there)this issue so that it was understood - I so often don't.
I am not a writer and certainly not a spell checker. I try to find and record information so people can also find information. Along the way I throw in my opinions too. I thank you for yours! :)
